DUO DOUBTFUL AS BOSS MAKES CHANGES

Posted on 02 February 2010 by paul

United manager Simon Grayson must make changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday’s visit of Tottenham Hotspur (7.45pm).

The Leeds boss is without new signings Gary McSheffrey and Shane Lowry, who both made their debuts against Colchester last weekend, and Max Gradel, who stepped off the subs bench during the 2-0 win.

Andrew Hughes has shaken off the illness which ruled him out of Saturday’s game, but the manager still has two injury doubts ahead of the FA Cup fourth round replay at Elland Road.

“Most of the squad trained on Tuesday, but Paddy Kisnorbo will be a doubt and so will Neil Kilkenny,” said the boss.

“As we always say, if anyone is in any doubt they won’t play.

“Saturday’s game at Hartlepool is more important, but whatever team we put out will be good enough to give Tottenham a good game.”

The Tottenham clash comes at a time when United are on a run that sees 13 games in just 42 days, but the manager believes his players are coping with the gruelling schedule.

“Time will tell, but it’s down to us to move things around on the training ground,” he said.

“Rest and recovery is important, but they like playing games. Ask any player, and they will tell you they want to play games.

“We didn’t do too much in terms of training on Monday, but we trained on Tuesday morning and that’s how it will be for the next month.

“It shows how successful we’ve been, having so many games, but that’s why we’ve brought in the players who won’t be involved on Wednesday, but will be back in the 18 at the weekend.”
